It’s finally here! Kato announces the Union Pacific 4-8-8-4 Big Boy for release in mid 2023! This model, the culmination of more than three years of engineering and design work, will be available with analog setup, DCC, and DCC with sound versions!
Union Pacific 4014 will be replicated based on its most recent 2021 renovations – a perfect match for Kato’s UP Excursion train and can be paired up with the recently announced SD70M 4015 that will also be painted in special Excursion paint.
The Big Boy will use a dual coreless motor design with an articulated frame – just like the prototype engine – to make it capable of navigating 11″ minimum curves, allowing this magnificent engine to run on even the most space-conscious of modeler’s layouts!
Kato is now taking pre-orders through the end of December for DCC units and the end of January for analog units – reserve yours at your favorite hobby store today!
