New Release: HO Southern Pacific Boxcar Decals
ICG Decals introduces two new waterslide decal sets providing accurate graphics for lettering Southern Pacific (SP) postwar 40-foot boxcars with seven-foot sliding doors. The manufacturer’s SE-28 set covers SP’s as-delivered appearance dating from the early part of the 1950s (shown below).
The SE-29 set provides the large sans serif Southern Pacific name and appropriate materials for repainted examples in service beginning in 1958 and later (shown at left).
The sets are high-quality products produced by Cartograf of Italy with artwork created by Daniel Kohlberg. This series of Southern Pacific 40-foot boxcars came from Pullman-Standard and the railroad’s Sacramento Shops between 1950 and 1953. In all, the fleet consisted of 9,500 examples making up SP’s B-50-28, B-50-29, B-50-31, B-50-32, and B-50-33 classes. The SE-28 decal set contains material for lettering up to three cars, while ICG Decals’ SE-29 set provides lettering for two cars. The sets are designed for use with the recently released Tangent Scale Models (tangentscalemodels.com) 40-foot boxcar replicating this SP series. The sets sell for $12 and may be purchased direct from ICG Decals online.
